title: Citrix is in the Past, Omnissa is on the Horizon
description: An article about how Omnissa is superior to Citrix and Citrix should be left in the past where Omnissa SHOULD BE CONSIDERED THE FUTURE OF IT.

# [Citrix is in the Past, Omnissa is on the Horizon](https://resources.r-comconsulting.com/r-com-consulting-limited-blog/citrix-is-in-the-past-omnissa-is-on-the-horizon)

Citrix set the standard. But the new standard is already here — and if you’re still waiting, you’re not just falling behind. You’re handing opportunity to your competitors.

**The Digital Workspace Is Moving On**

Let’s start by giving Citrix it's due, Citrix helped build the era of remote work. It gave us access, virtualisation, and a glimpse of what was possible. But in today’s hybrid-first, threat-dense, multi-cloud enterprise, *access* isn’t the benchmark. **Agility is. Simplicity is. Resilience is.**

That’s where Horizon 8 (now part of Omnissa) changes the game — and where clinging to legacy tools becomes a serious strategic risk.

**If You’re Still on Citrix, Ask Yourself:**

1. Is your remote access truly seamless — or stitched together with outdated infrastructure?
2. Are you bleeding money on complexity while other orgs scale effortlessly?
3. Is your current setup giving attackers a bigger surface to aim at?

We’re not saying Citrix failed. We’re saying **the needs of your business have perhaps outgrown it.**

**Horizon 8: Built for the Modern Enterprise**

Horizon 8 doesn’t just keep up — it leads. Developed by VMware and now part of the new Omnissa stack, it’s the platform of choice for modern IT teams who need **control without compromise**.

**What You Get:**

1. **Ironclad Security** – VDI, DaaS, and apps that lock down endpoints without locking out users
2. **Total Cloud Control** – Manage everything from a single pane of glass
3. **Operational Efficiency** – Maximise ROI with fewer moving parts
4. **Speed and Flexibility** – Instant scale-up, context-aware performance, and a frictionless user experience
5. **Strategic Simplicity** – Horizon 8 plays nicely with your hybrid cloud

This isn’t about vendor preference. It’s about survival. And Horizon 8 is fast becoming the **non-negotiable foundation** for forward-looking organisations.

**Why R-COM? Because We Don’t Do Stagnant.**

At R-COM, we’re not just selling you change — we’re building it with you. Whether you’re a healthcare trust, a public sector team, or a mid-market leader trying to break free of bloat, we help you leap ahead of slow-moving competitors with a smarter, cleaner, and more secure environment. We’ve migrated legacy Citrix estates. We’ve cleaned up tangled VDI sprawl. And we’ve launched Horizon environments that deliver **day-one performance** and long-term advantage.

**TL;DR?**

**Citrix gave you access.**

**Horizon 8 gives you agility, control, and speed.**

*And every month you wait, the gap widens.*
